Client: Advanced Structures and Composites Center at the University of Maine (in-house)—DeepCwind Consortium’s Windstorm Challenge.
Windstorm Challenge was created to introduce high school students to the new concept of deepwater floating wind technology. Teams could enroll to create a model floating platform, documentation, and oral presentation pitching their design in hopes of winning an internship at the University of Maine’s Advanced Structures and Composites Center. During the construction process, each team received a model turbine to simulate the weight and attachment of the instrumented turbine used on competition day. Each model came with a set of assembly instructions.
